BOOKS

Cohen will have published several new and revised books during the 2008-2010 period, namely:

  • Acting One/ActingTwo, McGraw-Hill, 2008
  • A verse translation of Molière’s The Misanthrope, Encore Performance Publishing, 2008
  • The seventh edition of his Acting Professionally (now co-authored by James Calleri), Palgrave Macmillan, 2009
  • The Romanian translation of his play Machiavelli: the art of terror, 2009
  • The ninth editions of his intro texts, Theatre and Theatre: Brief Edition, McGraw-Hill, 2010
  • Working Together: Leadership and Collaboration in Theatre, 2010,a new book with Palgrave Macmillan.



DIRECTING

  • Recent and upcoming directing projects include:
  • School for Wives, 2008, Utah Shakespearean Festival
  • Endgame, 2008, UC Irvine
  • The world premiere of Bryan Reynolds’ Eve’s Rapture, 2009, Hayworth Theatre Los Angeles
  • The premiere of a musical version of an updated medieval mystery play in preparation for 2010.


OTHER

Activities include:

  • June 2009, attended and spoke at Grotowski Symposium, Wroclaw, Poland
  • October 2009, awarded the title of Professor Honoris Causa at the University of Babes¸-Bolyai in Cluj, Romania
  • November 2009, awarded the "Medal of Honor" by the Polish Ministry of Culture.
  • April, 2010, will present a paper on implications of his 1960 correspondence with playwright Samuel Beckett at Northeast Modern Language Association meetings in Montreal.
  • 2010-11, the Romanian premiere of his play, Machiavelli, anticipated at the statetheatre of Arad, Romania.
